*You blow me kisses at night and catch mine and put it on your cheek.
*You are very social and make friends with any kids playing in Chick-fil-a.
*You love to roughhouse with your siblings.
*You are still in your crib...we'll move you once we move into our new house in October.

Lord I pray that you would continue to bless Sam with a healthy body, mind and spirit. I pray that he would continue to grow in his knowledge and love for Jesus and come to know you as his Savior at a young age. I praise you and thank you for the fact that he loves you already at age 3. I pray that you would give Kurt and I wisdom on how to teach him about you and how to love him the way you want us to love him. I pray that you would protect him from harm and keep him safe all the days of his life and that he would live a long full life full of joy and peace and walking closely with you. I pray that he would never doubt your love for him or doubt his salvation. I pray that he would be a bold witness for the work that you have done is his life and that he would unashamedly proclaim the gospel in a loving way to all he knows. I pray that he would be a peacemaker and be accepting of all the people you have created. I pray that he would remain closely on the path you have picked out for him. Lord I thank you for allowing me to be his mother. Help me to enjoy every day and every season with this young sweet blonde-haired boy. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for being given the privilege of being his mama. Lord I praise you and love you and I trust you with his life. Amen

Dear Jack,
Happy 8th birthday JackJack! What a delight you are! We had so much fun celebrating your birthday and going to Thin Air and Pizza Hut for your party! You specifically requested stuffed crust pepperoni pizza. On your actual birthday you requested to have a cream-filled donut breakfast in bed with the rest of us joining you for a carpet picnic, pool with the whole family, McDonald's brought to the pool, playing with gifts, then out to laser tag and pizza, ending with ice-cream at BRs. Wow! What a day! Oh and then you love for Daddy and I to put you to bed together and talk to you. You melt my heart. I told you that you were not supposed to grow up and that you would be my little boy forever. You said you tried but you can't stop growing. You said, yep, even when you are in Heaven and then your eyes welled up with tears (and so did mine). This year your got Scooby Doo Legos and a foosball table. So fun! You are growing up so fast. I am just so thankful to the Lord for giving you to me as my son. I have such a vivid memory of when the doctor handed you to me right after you were born. You bring me so much joy and I know the Lord feels that joy as well. How could he not?!
We love you so much Jack.
Love Mommy and Daddy

You are really into watching Scooby Doo and Scooby Doo Legos.
You are going into 2nd grade!!! I can't believe it!
You are in jiu jitsu right now and you really don't care for it.
You have a hard time naming a best friend because they are all your friends. :)
You and your sister are hilarious together but you fight like an old married couple.
You are so sweet with Sam and you call him Bubby Cheeks or Bub Boy.
You love spending time alone with daddy or I.
You get so shy when we talk about girls.
You love to draw still and are pretty confident in your skill.
You are starting to eat more...I can't imagine feeding a teenage boy.
You love your extended family like crazy.
You are still very affectionate and love to give kisses and hugs. I hope it never ends.
You love your foosball table!
You are very good at building Legos.
You melt my heart on a regular basis and are so tender hearted.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the privilege of being Jack's mom. My heart is so full. I know you are pleased with him and his Christian faith. I thank you for the fact that he believes in You. What a gift. I thank you that he desires to serve you and that he loves you. I pray that he would never once doubt your love for him. I pray that he would submit his will and life to you and follow your path closely. I pray that you would surround him with fellow believers and that he would bring many people to Christ or closer to you. I pray that he would be a strong witness in his school and that you would protect him from Satan's attacks. Lord would you give him a healthy mind, body and spirit all the days of his life. Let him live a long life full of service to you. I pray for his wife that she would be raised in a Christian home and follow closely after you. Lord, would you let them find each other at a young age and help them to stay pure until marriage. I pray that their marriage would be a testimony to you and that they would submit to your will for their lives as a married couple. I pray that you would bless them with children and bless them financially. Lord would you make your path clear for Jack and protect him along the way. Lord would you give me the daily strength to parent him as you would have me and the strength to give him over to you. I pray that he and Audrey would remain close to one another throughout their lives and that you would bless that relationship. Thank you for loving this sweet boy and for creating him in your image.

Dearest Audrey Day,
Happy 5th birthday to you my darling girl! I cannot believe you are 5! 5 seems so much older than 4. I still vividly remember finding out I was having a girl and I could hardly believe it. Tears streamed down my face and I was so full of joy. What a special gift to have you as my daughter. You bring so much joy to our family and your personality is just blossoming every day. I am so thankful and will always be that God gifted you to us and that I get to be your mama!
Here's a little bit about you at age 5:
You have your hair in a bob and you prefer to have it down and straight. I often force you to put it up and/or put a bow in it.
You don't like dresses...you always prefer shorts and t shirts.
You love to paint your nails.
You absolutely love your baby brother. You are such a mommy to him and get so excited when he does new things. I think you've yelled "Sam's walking!!!" every single day for 2 weeks. You are so affectionate with him. You always want hugs and kisses from him before haps and bedtime.
You and Jack are best friends and you love him so much. You love to be together and play together but you sure do push each other's buttons. Kind of like a married couple you need a break from each other.
You like to try new foods...you rarely like them but you are willing!
You are bubbly and fun and your facial expressions are just darling!
You are very outgoing! You are willing to introduce yourself to other kiddos and efriend them. I love this about you!
You often find the smaller kids and play with them and become their "mommy".
You are very sure of yourself even when your big brother knows the truth you insist he is wrong or that you know the answer.
You love Jesus and you are saved!!!! You love to answer questions in Sunday school class. This past Sunday you did such a good job of raising your hand and waiting to be called on. It was so sweet.
You love your friend Kara and when she comes over you love to dress up and play house.
You love to have tea parties.
You love love chocolate chips on anything.
Your favorite foods would be peanut butter and bagels.
You are very generous with your food, money and belongings.
You love group hugs at night.
You still come out of your bed at night and make excuses of things you need...bandaids, lotion, itch cream, you name it.
You did so well in your dance recital.
You are doing really well with your swimming. You are able to flip from your tummy to your back and do jumping bobs. You are working on your strokes. You still can't swim independently in the deep end but you are very brave and confident in the water.
You love to play board games, specifically slamwich.
You love to be tucked in at night and you love your puppy Snoopy.

We love you so much Audrey! You are such a delight!
Love Mommy

Dear Lord,
Thank you for this precious gift you have given us in Audrey Day. Thank you for giving her 5 healthy years of growth. We thank you most of all for her salvation and the fact that she loves Jesus. I thank you for her generous spirit and pray that it continues throughout her life. I thank you for the joy filled spirit you have given her. I pray that you would protect her throughout her life physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I pray that you would surround her with your angels and with strong Christian friends, mentors and teachers. I pray that she would see the world as you do and see people as you see them. I pray that her lens for viewing the world would be through love and that above all else she would serve you in all that she does. Lord I pray that Audrey would know deeply how much you love her and that she would see you intertwined in her life. I pray that she would never doubt that you are good and have a good and perfect plan for her life. I pray that you would protect her spouse and keep him pure for Audrey. I pray that you would keep Audrey pure as well until she is married. I pray that you would bind Satan as he attempts to attack her and tempt her. I pray that she would honor you in all that she does. Jesus, I commit Audrey in to your hands and I pray that you would give me the wisdom I need to parent her as you would have me.
Amen.

Happy 5th Birthday Jack!

Happy (Belated) Birthday Jackaroni Macaroni! We had so much fun celebrating you this year. We had a Lego Ninjago party for you at Chuck E Cheese and it was so fun! We then had our own little celebration on your actual birthday with your choice of Power Rangers plates and napkins! You also decided that our vacation to Florida was for your birthday too! ;) We love you so much and every day we are in awe of the things you say and do. You have an amazing heart and we love seeing you learn new things about the world and the Lord. Here are some things we want to remember about you:
*You love God and you told us you would never stop loving him.
*You are very thoughtful and intentional about the things you choose to give others and the words you speak.
*You are still quite cautious (mom loves this about you!) are building confidence every day.
*You are really good at karate and are learning how to stand up for yourself and be confident. You even use your tactics when Audrey hits or steals a toy from you (you put up your hands and stay stop or no!).
*You really enjoy reading and listening to Bible stories. If we skip a word or sentence from one of your Bibles, you know.
*You love your extended family members and really enjoy visiting them. You are finally remembering them despite time away and have an instant reconnection.
*You love to be silly and are starting to understand sarcasm (which is good because your daddy is always trying to play tricks on you.)
*You use a different voice when talking to Audrey...its super sweet and gentle.
*You are learning to swim really well this summer after only 2 lessons.
*You still have a hard time eating meat or trying new foods, but you really do try. Eating still takes a long time but we are making progress (You actually tried frog legs on vacation. (We only have to pay you $5).
*You have a great sense of humor...you actually thought it was funny when Daddy smashed cake on your face twice. (I know payback is coming).
*You are loving your Lego Ninjas and truly want to be a Ninja...hence the karate lessons.
*You still tell us what you will dream about at night and want to know what we will dream about.
*You still come out of your room every night when you are not supposed to. Usually your excuse is something like "This finger is a different color than my other ones."
*You are very inquisitive about things. Recently you have asked me what the little marks on my leg are. Cellulite....this led to my explaining about a person's weight.
*You love to do so many things...crafts, draw (which your are very good at), play in water, swim, have playdates, visit people's houses, go out to lunch or dinner, pretty much anything. The only thing you have some to kind of resist is running errands with mommy, understandably.

We are so thankful for the work that you are doing in his life and that he has chosen to follow you. Lord I ask that you would grow Kurt and I in order that we might be better parents for him and teach us how to pray and intercede on his behalf. We release him into your hands to care for and protect him. I thank you Lord for creating such a healthy little boy and I give his ongoing health over to you. Keep him healthy and safe this year Lord and give Kurt and I wisdom in how to protect his mind, body and spirit. Thank you Lord for the sweet relationship between Jack and Audrey. I pray that he would always have a desire to connect with his sister and that they would treat each other with love and respect. I pray they would share a closeness only found in knowing you. Thank you for these children and the fact that you know them even better than I do. Thank you for the gift of your Holy Spirit which guides and directs us as we parent Jack. In Jesus name, Amen.

Dear 4-year-old Jack...

Dearest Jack,
You are now 4 years old...I am a little tardy is writing you your birthday letter. I have been making mental notes of what I wanted to write about and now I find it hard to know where to begin.

Just today you demonstrated such great faith...you bowed your head at the table while we were writing thank you notes and began to pray silently. I was busy doing something else and I asked you a question. When I realized I had interrupted you, I apologized. You told me you were praying in your head that you and Audrey would feel better soon (because you both had colds). It's not too often that I stop what I am doing and bow my head rather than pushing through when I feel tired or sick. Thank you for this reminder to petition our Lord throughout the day. Recently I have felt that you may be playing a greater role in my life than I in yours'. You have taught me countless things including how to accept clutter when it means that fun is being had, how to react with gentleness and patience when disobedience occurs, how to think outside the box when creating anything, when to apply grace even when a punishment deserved, how to show affection, how to treat everyone differently based on their love language, and on and on. I do want to say thank you for all the many ways that God has used you, a little boy, to refine me. Amazing.

Your dad and I are so proud of you and what a caring, kind, brave, persistent, creative and fun boy you are. Every day before we go to sleep we share funny and inspiring stories from the day. You never fail to show us something new that you can do or outsmart us somehow! Most recently I have been so impressed with how responsible you are. Every night you carry your plate and cup to the counter to help clean up, you always put your pjs away after getting dressed and you take great initiative in caring for Henry by letting him outside and brushing him.

You are also very helpful, no matter the task. I have a hard time thinking of a chore that you would not do with a cheerful heart if you thought it would help mommy or daddy (I have a feeling this will change as you age!). After making cookies one day, you cleaned all the dishes yourself without me even asking you to. The excessive amount of bubbles from the dish soap may have been your incentive, but you were very proud of yourself in the end and I could tell how much our praise lifted you up.

I also love seeing you interact with your sister. You are very protective of her and are always making sure she is safe. You have quickly picked up on what toys are too small for her and keeping your eyes peeled when she tries to dive over the back of the couch. The way she looks at you just melts my heart. She truly thinks you are the best thing in the world. You make her laugh when I struggle to even make her smile. When your dad was gone recently for a business trip, you helped me brush her teeth by holding her hands down. She thought this was hilarious whereas when your dad has helped me she only cries and fights us. You are a wonderful role model for her and I pray that you and she will have a deep relationship throughout your lives.

Here are a few other tidbits about what you have been up to recently:
*You excelled in swim lessons this summer! You made so much progress and even started swimming on your own (minus being able to come up to take a breath!) You have become so brave and love jumping off the edge and diving for toys.
*You are still quite the picky eater and require disciplinary action if you do not eat. Dessert will soon be phased out but for now its the only way to get you to eat.
*You love to play pretend...anything! It really depends on what you did that day or what show you just watched, whether it be lion king or rolly pollies!
*You still love to show off your karate moves.
*You ask tons of why questions, but not just "why". You always have a very detailed why-question and do not rest until you feel you have uncovered the root cause of something. I do love talking with you, but sometimes mommy has to request a break to rest!
You still take naps and if you do not, then you are just miserable and crying at the drop of a hat! Good thing preschool still allows them!
*You are my favorite little boy in the entire world!
