Jack started swim lessons today! It was soooo much fun. There are 2 other kiddos in his class and the instructor is coach Phyllis. The goal of the classes are to teach the children ultimately how to survive if they fell in the pool and to have fun while learning! Jack absolutely loved being in the water. He kicked and splashed the whole time. He did get a little upset after the submersion part, but quickly recovered. He smiled at the 2 little girls in the class a lot! He even got to go down a slide on his tummy. I have decided to start him in swim lessons for 2 reasons. The first stems from my experience working at University. Having seen and worked with children who nearly drowned, I am hoping to prevent that from happening to Jack. The other reason for taking lessons is to have fun and hopefully teach Jack that swimming is fun! I love having a scheduled activity to do with him every week and I enjoyed being with the other moms.
Here is a video of a baby who has learned to save himself from drowing that my friend Heidi forwarded to me. It's amazing!

He looks super cute in his swim trunks! This is wonderful that you are training him so soon!
SO fun!! Where are you taking them? I totally want to do it with P this summer!!
Jack looks so grown up in that first picture. He's adorable.
Hi Megan! I love that Jack is starting swim lessons - such a great activity for BOTH of you! Addy took a mommy & me class at the "love to swim school" near you and loved it (well, not the submersion initially) but by the end she was able to jump in independently and go under with glee, get to the wall, and get out by herself (she was about 20-22 mo old). Of course, I am always right there for safety. I called her my water baby. Congrats Jack!!!
