Keep Austin Weird

Kurt, Jack and I stayed in a B and B this weekend for the first time. We went to Austin for an antique auction (I didn't buy anything!) and we had planned to hike and enjoy the weather. Of course we went on the one weekend it was cold and rainy in TX, but we still enjoyed the time away and a chance to experience something new. We ate at Guero's on South Congress and went to Uncommen Objects, the funkiest antique store I have ever been too. It's filled with antique dealers who have scoured the town for the weirdest items they can find. Kurt entertained himself by taking pictures of the weirdest things he could find. Ask him to see the picture of the taxadermy beaver. We love going to Austin to experience a different culture and of course see the weird people (that's not meant to be condescending...Austin is very proud of it's weirdness). The weirdest thing we saw was a man walking across the street in stilts. Past visits have included men dressed in cheerleading costumes.
The B & B we stayed in was called The Robin's Nest, run by Robin herself. It was terrific...our porch had a big wooden swing and our room was called The Perch. If you follow the path through the little cottages, you will end up on the dock on Lake Travis. We loved the hot breakfast in the morning with eggs, sausage and bread with butter. Robin was very sweet and very quirky. She made us laugh, as well as her dogs Cutter and Biscuit. Cutter (the boy) is very sweet. Apparently he likes to escort the guests to their rooms and sleep outside the newest guest's room. Biscuit on the other hand (the girl) is quite interesting. She came up to Kurt and was licking his hand, but we found out that she is very protective of her couch. If you try to get near her on the couch, she turns into a devil dog. Kurt and I are quite childish, and while Robin was delivering breakfast to others, we taunted her by pretending we were going to pet her. She wasn't happy to say the least. See below.
All in all, we had a great time. I would highly recommend staying at a B and B on Lake Travis.

It looks like y'all had fun and didn't let the rain/cold get in the way. I am curious about these weird antiques...Kurt should post the pics he took!

We lived in Austin, right around that area (just off Town Lake Blvd) and we loved walking through there, looking at homes, and watching the people bringing their boats down... Makes me miss it, reading your fun adventure story!
