I have decided to start recording what God is doing through Kurt's business and the many ways that He has blessed and upheld us so that we can look back and remember how faithful He has been! I can't figure out why I haven't done this until now, but better late than never!
1. First, as I said in my previous post, we had a wonderful ultrasound with Audrey. It is no small miracle to us that she is healthy! I think after having one child I am able to see just how gracious it is of God to give us a healthy child. Either way, she is our's and we love her, but we also recognize and are grateful for the news we received.
2. Health insurance! Wow...what a journey to acquire health insurance for me! I exhausted my COBRA benefits that were offered through ATT after Kurt quit. At the end of 2010 I would no longer be covered. We were convinced that we could simply apply for group health insurance through our business. The company we were working with said it was no problem and that we only needed 2 employees....Kurt and I. Since we were so sure we would have this comprehensive health insurance, we opted to have another child! After we found out we were pregnant, we also found out that each employee was required to work 35 hours/week for the company. Obviously I do not meet this requirement. The insurance agent claimed over and over that it was no problem and that they never really check to make sure you are actually working that many hours. He also told us that everyone else lies about this and that it was no problem if we wanted to go ahead with the plan. For a split second, we did consider doing it. I will not lie. We both then came to our senses (or I should say the Holy Spirit kicked in!) and we opted to not do the group insurance. So began the hunt for private health insurance. Kurt and Jack were quickly insured, but because I have post-partum depression and I am pregnant, NO ONE would insure me! After many denials, we applied to the Texas health insurance risk pool. One company is mandated by the government to offer a plan, a very expensive plan, but at least they have to offer it to you! I was approved with the exception that they would not cover maternity. Eek! We were praying that God would protect me from complications from the pregnany to avoid major major bill. When we received the policy, Kurt went over the 30-some page document just to see what it said. As God would have it, there was one line in the policy that stated, "if you are federally eligible, you will receive maternity benefits". Once we determined that I was federally eligible, we called and almost had to convince the insurance agency that I was eligible for maternity benefits. I am so amazed at this blessing and am just so thankful to God for providing maternity insurance for me against all odds! You are awesome God!
3. Hope for One: Not too long ago we learned that the company who provides the platform for Kurt's mobile app was requesting that we transfer ownership over to our name so that they would not be associated with a porn and sex addiction app. With no choice, we had to do this which would mean we would lose all 200,00+ of our users. We made it to a place where we were able to accept this and trust God, although we did feel sad to have to start over from scratch. After the new app launched under our name, Kurt realized that the CTO had merged the two apps so that we in fact did not lose all of our users! Apparently, the CTO has a habit of doing nice things for Kurt without saying anything but just letting Kurt find out on his own. We truly felt this was an act of God considering their CEO was telling us indefintely that it was no possible for this to be done. God you are so merciful! We are not back up to our original slot of the #1 porn and sex addiction app and yesterday Kurt had over 2300 people download the new app. Amazing!
4. The last thing I will write about is how God has provided an angel investor for our business. Someone Kurt knows has offered to invest in the company so that we can launch a new app that will actually provide us with an income. The amazing thing about this is that the man who is investing let Kurt decide the terms and told Kurt he wanted to do what was best for us and enable us to keep as much ownership of the company as possible. I think the MOST amazing thing to me is how God led us to San Antonio for so many reasons, this being one of them. Not too often do you get to know a wealthy, well-connected person who has a desire to invest in a business like ours and who has your best interest at heart! Pretty awesome God!
One of the songs that has been speaking to me recently is one by Jeremy Camp called Walk by Faith....
It says, "Well I will walk by faith, even when I cannot see. Well because this broken road prepares your will for me."
Thank you God for everything undeserved thing you have given us.
