We had the privilege of visiting the fire station and receiving the grand tour! The fire fighters went above and beyond and really gave the kids a wonderful and exciting visit! Jack brough cookies and a card to tell the fire fighters thank you for protecting us.
First, the kids learned about how to stop, drop and roll and how to crawl under the smoke in your house if there was a fire. They also learned about 9-1-1 and what qualifies as an emergency. I think Elena was the only one who really understood but it was still fun!
The firemen gave a great explanation of all of the equipment on the truck.
One of the mom's volunteered to dress up! The fire suit weighs 20 pounds and the extra O2 tank weighs another 20. I tried to volunteer but they said I was exempt. I guess there is a rule against dressing up pregnant women!
And of course, they were about to walk through the front of the truck!
I definitely think the highlight was when each kid was able to squirt the hose!
We could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you San Antonio Fire Station #37!
