Happy Birthday Jack! You are three years old today! My, how time flies. I have very vivid memories of when you were born and of the past three years and its bitter-sweet to see you grow up. You have brought so much indescribable joy into our lives and we cannot thank God enough for making YOU our little boy. Here are the highlights are what ‘s been happening with you these days:
• You repeat everything you hear us say and you try to use it in context. Today at the pool you heard me say that another little boy was nervous about swimming. Later you said you were nervous because you were sitting in your chair at the table. We will have to work on the meaning of that one a little. You do however use the word usually correctly most of the time! My favorite line so far is when you were taking my picture with your new camera the other day you said “Smile!”.
• You really love your Bible stories and like to memorize your verses. It’s so fun to see how God is working in your heart. Today you asked your dad if Jesus was happy. Your dad responded, “He is very happy because He will get to spend forever with you in Heaven!”. We also had a discussion the other night about the devil. Somehow we started talking about “bad guys” because you are really into superheroes. I told you that superheroes and bad guys are not real and are just cartoons but God is real and he has an enemy called Satan. I also told you that God would always protect you if you asked him to. You thought about this for a long while and then promptly went on to talk about your stuffed animals. You clearly were not worried about God’s enemy after I told you God would protect you. It was really sweet.
• You love love love playing with your dad! Your favorite games/activities are Henry Monster, Kitty-Cat House, and the pool. You love running errands with dad and being his little helper in anything he does. I love that you want to be just like him!
• You are very kind and compassionate. In soccer practice, if one of the other children falls or gets hurt, you stop and bend down to see if they are ok. You pat them on the shoulder and tell them it’s going to be okay. You also area always willing to share with others and are always thinking of others needs. You and your dad pray for the sick people and poor people a lot before bedtime. He also talks to you about how we should give some of our things to the poor people since they don’t have enough money. The other day as you were playing with your new Batman and Batmobile, you turned to me and said, “I want to give my other Batman to the poor kids since I have two.” I could not believe my ears and I immediately thanked the Lord for giving you a compassionate spirit.
• You love to be silly! There are a variety of ways you do this but one is by showing your muscles! You also talked a really silly voices and make up nonsensical words. It’s hilarious!
• You are way too smart! Yesterday you found June Bug sitting in your room, but before you attempted to capture her, you ran to my bedroom and shut the door so she could not escape and run under my bed! I must admit, I have been outsmarted several times by you as well!
• You love your baby sister! You are so sweet and gentle with her and are always saying, “Ahh, baby Audreyyyy” and giving her hugs and kisses! You always want to know why she is crying and are so helpful by putting her paci in. Today you were playing with your stamps while I got dressed. When I came out, Audrey had a nice dinosaur stamp on her forehead. You were covered from head to toe in stamps as well. You said you received stamps for doing a good job in soccer practice and Audrey received her’s because she did a good job watching you. You also gave me one for the same thing. You are so thoughtful! (Good thing they are washable!)
• You love superheroes and robots! You and your dad are always playing good guys and bad guys and watching the old cheesy cartoon videos on his iPhone. Your missile and guy noises have become very sophisticated!
• You are still very affectionate and love to be held, give hugs and kisses and snuggle on the couch. I hope you never outgrow this part!
• Your favorite foods include cheese, fruit and anything that has chocolate in it! Of course you love candy like any other kid too! I think you take after me in this area!
Showing your muscles!
