Christmas was wonderful this year! I really felt like I had time to enjoy the true meaning of Christmas as well as time to think about the traditions we wanted to continue and begin with Jack and Audrey. Jack woke up around 6:30 and for the first time got out of his bed and came to our bedroom door! He knocked, and knocked, and knocked. It took us a while to wake up and realize that someone was at our door! He said, "I have to ask you a question. Did Santa come?". Kurt took him back to his bedroom and kept him there for a little while. Jack came out again and saw the plate of cookie crumbs on the table and was very excited that Santa ate his cookies! We then read the Christmas story from his children's Bible. After that we set out for the living room to open our presents. The whole time we were opening presents Jack kept saying, "I want to open my light saber". He is not at the age yet where he can look at a wrapped gift and predict what it might be! He did receive his favorite Star Wars guys and a double light saber that twists in the middle. He actually started jumping up and down when he opened Darth Vadar!
We also have started the pickle ornament. It's a german tradition where you hide the pickle somewhere on the Christmas tree and the first person to find it Christmas morning gets a special present. When we found the pickle gift wrapped under the tree, Jack asked who it was for and I told him it was the pickle ornament gift. He became frantic and started looking for the ornament and he found it first! He grabbed it so tightly that his hands were shaking! It was so funny!
Audrey received some pacis in her stocking as well as some puffs. Kurt and I gave her her first pair of Dorothy shoes! I have always wanted to buy a pair of these shoes for my little girl and I finally was able to!!! Jack went shopping at school and gave Audrey a little ceramic cup that says "Baby's First Christmas". Super cute! Henry was given some sausages in his stocking and later decided to try and eat the paper they were wrapped in!
We made turkey and potatoes for dinner and then we had a birthday celebration for Jesus! Jack picked out army-themed birthday decor for the party. He figured since Jesus was a boy he would like it. He played his accordion and sang happy birthday to Jesus at the same time! Quit impressive! It was so much fun!
Happy Birthday to you Jesus! We love you!
