Oh sweet Jack. How can you be seven? You are such a delight. You have grown into a boy that I never imagined. When you were born, I never imagined all that you would become and all the ways that you would demonstrate the love of Christ. When I think about you, my heart swells and I am brought to tears. I have such vivid memories of when you were born. What precious memories. You have grown so fast and I always tell you that you will be in trouble if you don't stop growing.  Here is a little bit about my sweet boy Jack:

You are the bravest Christian I know.

You like to irritate your sister.

You have started climbing trees and posts wherever we go.

You love to burp and toot.

You got bullied at school...Zane told you to open his yogurt or he would take your water bottle. You actually had no idea until I told you. Now you are prepared. :)

You are really into Legos. That is actually an understatement by far!  You are extremely creative and I am always impressed with the elaborate creations you make. You always have a story line for what you have created. I hope you never lose your creativity and passion for building. Robo spinner dog is still my favorite.

The other night I was telling you how God forgives you and washes you clean as white as snow. I have been trying to remind you that everyone sins and no one is perfect and that Jesus is the reason that we are clean before the Lord. Through tear-filled eyes, I told you that God doesn't see your sin, but sees you as white as snow. You told me in the most tender voice, "I really like what you are saying mommy."

You are so affectionate and loving Jack. You love to give me kisses and hugs and you love to snuggle. You love when we lay in your bed together at night and talk and snuggle. I hope this never ends! You also insist on giving me hugs and kisses before you leave or before we part ways. You also tell me that you love me at random times throughout the day.

You really want to play basketball, which we will start this winter!

You and Audrey are best friends. You are such an amazing older brother. You are such a good example to her. She has also been great at pushing you a bit to talk to kids you don't know and make friends. It's pretty sweet.

You have become a great eater and a big eater!

You love to watch Spider Man.

You have such a tender heart. You are the reason that I have felt so convicted of my attitude and my tendency to use a harsh tone and demonstrate anger and frustration towards you and Audrey. It has become so clear that my tone and behavior directly affects you either positively or negatively. I was finally brought to my knees over seeing you struggle with anger and bad thoughts and God made it clear that I played a large role in that. Praise God for the work He is doing in my heart because of you.

You started soccer yesterday. The coach gave instructions that if a player kicks his ball and hits the cones or another person's ball they have to do 10 jumping jacks. You were the only kids who demonstrated honesty and actually did them. The coach (and your mommy and daddy) were so proud of your integrity and honesty.

You are very saddened by the thought of not seeing Marleigh again.

You have an amazing memory. Thank goodness you don't take after me!

You love to actually read the Bible and learn something about God when we go to church. You were disappointed last year when your class was vague and not scripture focused. (You were a kindergartner!)

You are starting BSF this year with your daddy. I am so excited for all of us to be studying Revelation together!

I love you Jack and I am so thankful that I get to be your mommy. What a privilege. And what an even greater privilege to get to spend eternity with you! (Just celebrated your salvation day on 8/12).

Love you, Mommy

Dear Lord,
I thank you for Jack. I thank you for allowing me to be his mommy. I thank you that Jack and I will get to spend eternity together. My mind cannot fully wrap itself around that knowledge and blessing. I pray that Jack would continue to grow strong in the Lord and that he would serve you with zeal and joy all of his days. I pray that his bravery in sharing the gospel would never cease. I pray that you would bless him with Christian friends who would build him up ad encourage him in his faith. I pray that you would allow Jack to be athletic and enjoy exercising. I thank you for his healthy body and spirit. I pray for his spouse that she would be protected and raised in a Christian home and that they would find each other early on in life. I pray that Jack would follow you allllll of his days. I pray that he would develop confidence in standing up for himself and in speaking his mind. I thank you for the blessing that he is to this world.

Love Mommy
