17 Months and Christmas!

This year we were able to spend Christmas in St. Louis with the Trauths. It was so much fun and we were able to see almost all of the extended family. We were spoiled with great food, time with the family, and some competitive games of Kanasta! Jack had a great time playing with Mamo, Papa and Uncle Eric. Papa let him up on the pool table to pull balls out of the pockets which became a favorite game very quickly. Jack also tried playing pool with the boys but couldn't quite reach the table with his stick. He loved Toby and by the end he was very sweet to him and would pet his head and ears.

One of the funny things that happened was when we were at Aunt Sue's house and Jack's cousin Kelton got a new dump truck. Jack watched seriously as Kelton opened it and then once it was put together, he took it from Kelton. As we all told Jack to give it back to Kelton, Jack went into the corner with the truck and hid. It was so cute (and a little sad!).

We did get to see snow while were there. Jack didn't get to play in it because it was too cold and he was already sick. Maybe next year! Jack had a great time opening gifts and passing out stockings! Mamo and Papa were very generous to all of us! Oh, and Jack learned that he loves to climb the stairs and slide down on his belly. It was fun to see, but I am glad we don't have stairs here!

Here's a few things about Jack and his 17-month birthday:
He only will eat blueberry muffins for breakfast (and occasionally a little banana).
He is stillllll cutting teeth!
He loves animals.
He says dada and mama occasionally but won't say it if you ask him too. He just smiles and buries his head in shyness!
He loves to read books, play with his train, color with markers, and take things apart.
He loves Elmo!
He folds his hands when we tell him we are going to pray.
When I lay him down for bed, he pretends to go to sleep by closing his eyes.
He still takes 2 naps (mom loves this!).
He loves to "be silly".
He understands most of what we tell him (this is amazing to me!).
He loves to go outside and push his truck. He runs to the door immediately when I ask him if he wants to go outside.
He's still a big flirt with strangers!

Jack LOVES Santa, if you can't tell.

Kurt took this pic of Jack reaching in to grab a beer for Grandpa.

Jack loved handing out Mountain Dews to Grandpa but would only give ice to Grandma.

Jack got lots of licks from Toby!

Jack loved peaking through the banister with Kurt and Uncle Eric.
