22 Months Old!

Jack is now 22 months...its hard to believe he's almost 2! What a character he continues to be! I missed the 21 month posting so I'll have to try to remember a lot! Here's what's been going on:

  • He's starting to imitate a bunch of words now...today he said one, six, food, off, help me. He is receiving speech therapy from Easter Seals to help because he was evaluated to have a slight delay in his expressive speech. They did say his receptive speech/cognition is great though!
  • He loves the water...yesterday and today we took him to a park that has a stream running through it. We walked around in the water, threw rocks in the water, and watched Henry doggie paddle for the first time! It was a blast!
  • He's still a pretty picky eater. We are going to be working on this one soon!
  • He loves to have a snack at his little table and have dance parties with mom after he wakes up from his nap.
  • He loves to watch Winnie the Pooh and Thomas the Train.
  • He loves to cook, both pretend and for real. I think this, aside from being outside, might be his favorite activity. He never lets me forget that he needs to lick the beater and get a bite of dough from the bowl!
  • He loves to read books and most recently has been loving his "Kisses for Daddy" book, which was the book I gave Kurt when Jack was born. It's really sweet to hear them reading together. He also loves to read his Bible.
  • He loves his Henry and loves giving him hugs around his waist. Henry is still a little leery of this!
  • He knows almost all his body parts!
  • He is obsessed with trucks of all kinds...he used to say "guck" and now he says "stuck" for the word truck. He is always putting his little men in them and driving them around. Today he put a lady bug in his truck outside and drove the bug around. It's really cute.
  • He loves to sit on the little potty and pretend to go. Then he takes a piece of toilet paper and pretends to wipe and then puts it in the big potty.
  • He is still pretty shy with people he hasn't met...I guess this is a blessing...a good amount of stranger anxiety is not a bad thing.
  • He is into 18-24 month clothes and size 6/7 shoes. He's definitely growing up!
  • He loves to be with other kids...especially if they are a little older. I think he likes trying to do what they do. He especially loves his friend Pierson.
  • He can match all of his Thomas the Train matching cards...there are only 2 of each kind and if they are all right side up on the table, he is able to find each match!
  • He still loves going to the mall with daddy and throwing coins in the fountain, playing on the playground and then getting a piece of Godiva.
  • He is really in to looking for Rollie Pollies and putting them in his bug box. That's about the only bug mom will touch.
  • He loves to help his dad in the yard...he helped Kurt put down mulch and plant shrubs today. He is a great helper!
Every day, Kurt and I are constantly telling each other what he did that day and we are always amazed. He bring such joy into our lives and keeps us laughing! Love you Jack!
