This year we decided to take a family vacation to escape the heat and have some quality family time! Kurt has very fond memories of visiting his grandma Gigi in the Smokey Mountains of Highlands, NC. So we decided to visit North Carolina and experience the cool mountain air! It turns out we went about 2-3 weeks too early as it was still 80 degrees but nonetheless, we had a wonderful time and hopefully will return again one day. The first day we went to the Smokey Mountain National Park in hopes of finding salamanders under rocks as well as other wildlife. However, the trails were not stroller friendly so our trip was a little short. No salamanders either, but we still had fun looking! We also visited the town of Cherokee which is rich with Indian culture.
Here's Jack loving his cabin in every way! When we first arrived he paced and paced around the cabin telling us about each room. He LOVED that he had his own room and big queen sized bed!
Here's Jack exploring outside our cabin. I am so thankful we brought rain boots! We used them so much for playing in the creeks!
Looking for salamanders...we never ended up finding one but it was still so fun to hunt!
