Thanksgiving 2011: Part 1

We had the opportunity again to travel up north to see both of our families for the Thanksgiving holiday! We had a such a wonderful trip and the pictures show some of the highlights from the trip! My parents moved to a larger house this past year and it was so much fun being able to stay in the house with the family. One of the first days we headed to the mall to make a Build-a-Bear which was part of Mema and Papa's gift to Jack for Christmas. Of course he chose a camo bear dressed in a Darth Vadar costume. He is really in to Star Wars these days despite not having seen the movies! Who can resist a light saber!? He had so much fun stuffing the bear and giving it a bath.

Another favorite activity was making gingerbread cookies with Mema. It really is a science so maybe by the time Jack is an adult he will have mastered the process. He did more watching than rolling though because he doesn't care to get messy! He did help Mema cut out and put them on the cookie sheet though. Speaking of recipes, I finally was able to watch my mom make her stuffing and I wrote down the recipe step by step since no recipe really exists!

Thanksgiving was wonderful and filled with the same dishes we always love...my favorite is the pretzel salad. I took a picture of the list my mom always makes with the schedule of making each dish because I am always so amazed that everything is timed perfectly. I need to remember these things if I ever make Thanksgiving dinner myself.

Jack also had the opportunity to decorate the Christmas tree while we were there. To him, it's like Christmas morning because he was able to open each ornament box.

Another highlight was watching the two King Cavs play together. Chance tolerated Jack pretty well and he and Henry learned very quickly how to play tug of war with the frisbee. We loved Chance so much...especially the fact that he will go out in the rain to go potty (unlike Henry who is too wimpy).

We also made Santa cookies and Jack got pretty creative and made a Grinch cookie. Somehow the Grinch cookie disappeared after we put it in the tupperware...someone wasn't aware that Jack was saving it to eat at a later date! Ooops...we did have to hear about this one for the rest of the trip! Gingerbread men decorating was a part of our schedule as well...this is by far my favorite thing to do! Somehow it makes everyone laugh till their sides hurt. The categories for competition this year included super heroes, animals, and family members. Jack created a Silver Surfer for his super hero. He was actually very good at decorating this year! Maybe he will turn out to be an artist like his dad!

We also had the privilege of meeting my brother's girlfriend, Emi this year. Kurt and I even got to go on a double-date with them...It was only to Dunkin Donuts, but it was still fun! I was able to go out with Marleigh to do some shopping as well. I love our girl time together.

It was so fun to see everyone individually interact with Audrey. Somehow babies help bring out everyone's real smile in pictures, which I love!
