On Day 1 we decided to head to the Woods Hold Science Aquarium. We had a great time looking at all the fish, horseshoe crabs, the blue lobster and comparing ourselves to the lobsters. Jack would be the third one from the left at 4 years old and Kurt and I would be the biggest one! The kids also touched some of the sea life in a shallow tank which included starfish and crabs!
Afterwards we headed to the Falmouth Farmer's Market which proved to be one of my favorite stops solely because of the fresh homemade donuts. When we lived in Chicago, each Saturday in the summer we would walk to the Oak Park farmer's market to devour fresh donuts and pick up fresh flowers. It's been a while since I have had the pleasure of tasting homemade donuts. As you can see from the pictures, I was a little selfish with my sharing but we bought 6 of them so there was plenty to go around! Jack had to have his picture taken next to Frankenstein! This may have been a main highlight of the trip for him. I also included a picture of a quirky white standard poodle...the owner claims that his dog gets upset when he doesn't receive enough attention since he has won so many awards (I think it might be the other way around though!). I also thought my friend Kasey might give in to her temptation to have a poodle if she say the picture! ;)
For dinner we ate at the Lobster Shack in Bourne. Audrey was very interested in the lobster and Jack only pretended to give it a kiss. We egged him on to try a bite, but he refused and instead dipped his bread in the melted butter. Honestly, the lobster was kind of a letdown. There really isn't much meat and its kind of chewy. I much prefer crab!
