A mother and son's prayers

J: Mommy, there's this lunch lady at school who isn't very nice. She kind of talks like this....
M: Well maybe she is sad or has something going on in her life that makes her impatient at school. Maybe next time you see her you could tell her that Jesus loves her.
J: I don't know if I can do that. I am kind of shy and not sure I can do that.
M: Maybe you could draw her a picture and write it on there.

Jack drew a picture of a unicorn and wrote on the back "God loves you".

M: Why don't you fold it up and put it in your lunch box and you can give it to her during lunch.
J: What if another lunch lady comes when I raise my hand?
M: You can just ask her if the other lunch lady can come over so you can give her something.
J: What if she gets mad? I don't think she believes in Jesus.
M: She won't get mad. And if she does it's okay. God asks us to do hard things and asks us to tell others about Jesus even when it's hard and they don't want to hear. Jesus did a very hard thing.
J: Okay. I put it on the counter. I really don't want you to forget to put it in my lunch box.
M: I won't.

The next day...

Lord God, would you make this a life-changing moment for Jack? Would you allow this lunch lady to respond positively and allow Jack to experience joy from this experience?

J: I raised my hand because I needed something opened and the other lunch lady came  over. I kind of got nervous so I didn't ask her to get the other lunch lady. Then I prayed to God for a second chance and He gave me one! I raised my hand again. The other lunch lady came over and I asked if she could tell the other lunch lady I wanted to give her something.
M: What did she say when you have her the picture?
J: She said ,"I bet God loves you too."

:)
