The LORD your God will bless you in all your harvest and in all the work of your hands, and your joy will be complete. Deuteronomy 16:15
Today is the last day my dad will be going to work at Caterpillar. For the past 35 ½ years (beginning on June 4, 1973), my dad has been a proud employee of this company. First I must say, CONGRATULATIONS DAD! What a bitter sweet time it must be to leave. Growing up, the work of my father’s hands supplied our family with all the necessities (and extras!) of life, as well as giving my mom the opportunity to stay at home with my brother and I. The Lord truly blessed our family through Caterpillar and my father’s faithfulness and loyalty to his company. 35 years working at the same company truly is a miracle to me. I know the Lord will continue to bless my dad because of his hard work and dedication to providing for his family. The retirement came on somewhat suddenly so it is almost a little strange to be writing these words. I imagine after working for so many years it will be an adjustment for my dad. He will no longer have a schedule to abide by and no deadlines (as well as no trips to the cafeteria with the guys for coffee). For many, the people they work with are their friends (as it was for me) and there is a sense of loss when you no longer work. On the other hand, it is exciting that my mom and dad will get to spend more time together. Their lives have been quite busy to say the least!
And again, to you dad…Thank you for all your hard work at Caterpillar to support our family. I am proud of you and proud to call you my dad! Here are a few pictures to remind you of your journey!
