Happy 5th Birthday Jack!

Happy (Belated) Birthday Jackaroni Macaroni! We had so much fun celebrating you this year. We had a Lego Ninjago party for you at Chuck E Cheese and it was so fun! We then had our own little celebration on your actual birthday with your choice of Power Rangers plates and napkins! You also decided that our vacation to Florida was for your birthday too! ;) We love you so much and every day we are in awe of the things you say and do. You have an amazing heart and we love seeing you learn new things about the world and the Lord. Here are some things we want to remember about you:
*You love God and you told us you would never stop loving him.
*You are very thoughtful and intentional about the things you choose to give others and the words you speak.
*You are still quite cautious (mom loves this about you!) are building confidence every day.
*You are really good at karate and are learning how to stand up for yourself and be confident. You even use your tactics when Audrey hits or steals a toy from you (you put up your hands and stay stop or no!).
*You really enjoy reading and listening to Bible stories. If we skip a word or sentence from one of your Bibles, you know.
*You love your extended family members and really enjoy visiting them. You are finally remembering them despite time away and have an instant reconnection.
*You love to be silly and are starting to understand sarcasm (which is good because your daddy is always trying to play tricks on you.)
*You use a different voice when talking to Audrey...its super sweet and gentle.
*You are learning to swim really well this summer after only 2 lessons.
*You still have a hard time eating meat or trying new foods, but you really do try. Eating still takes a long time but we are making progress (You actually tried frog legs on vacation. (We only have to pay you $5).
*You have a great sense of humor...you actually thought it was funny when Daddy smashed cake on your face twice. (I know payback is coming).
*You are loving your Lego Ninjas and truly want to be a Ninja...hence the karate lessons.
*You still tell us what you will dream about at night and want to know what we will dream about.
*You still come out of your room every night when you are not supposed to. Usually your excuse is something like "This finger is a different color than my other ones."
*You are very inquisitive about things. Recently you have asked me what the little marks on my leg are. Cellulite....this led to my explaining about a person's weight.
*You love to do so many things...crafts, draw (which your are very good at), play in water, swim, have playdates, visit people's houses, go out to lunch or dinner, pretty much anything. The only thing you have some to kind of resist is running errands with mommy, understandably.

Tell me about Jesus. Jesus is God. He is a light. He gives us food and water. He gave us a house and food. He gave us this world to live in.

Here is a prayer for you this year:

Lord God, thank you for this precious boy you have entrusted to Kurt and I. What an amazing gift he is to us and to the people he knows. We are so thankful for the work that you are doing in his life and that he has chosen to follow you. Lord I ask that you would grow Kurt and I in order that we might be better parents for him and teach us how to pray and intercede on his behalf. We release him into your hands to care for and protect him. Lord would you give us strength to allow your will to be done in his life and not our own.  Lord I thank you for Jack's natural desire to obey his parents and You. I pray that this obedience would continue on through his life in all areas. I pray that this year in preschool he would feel loved and accepted by his friends and teachers and he would grow further into your likeness. I pray that he would only be a follower of You, not of any other person. I thank you for his desire to tell others about Jesus and I ask that he would demonstrate confidence and clarity when sharing with his friends this year in school. I thank you Lord for creating such a healthy little boy and I give his ongoing health over to you. Keep him healthy and safe this year Lord and give Kurt and I wisdom in how to protect his mind, body and spirit. Thank you Lord for the sweet relationship between Jack and Audrey. I pray that he would always have a desire to connect with his sister and that they would treat each other with love and respect. I pray they would share a closeness only found in knowing you. Thank you for these children and the fact that you know them even better than I do. Thank you for the gift of your Holy Spirit which guides and directs us as we parent Jack. In Jesus name, Amen.
