Sam! You are four and I cannot believe it! You are a precious child and I am so blessed to be chosen to be your mom! I wish you were still a baby but it's so fun to see you grow and change. You are growing up to be such a wonderful boy who loves the Lord. Here's some more about you darling boy!
*2 days before you turned 4 you were going to bed and you had your eyes closed and were groggy, but you knew Papa John was coming to visit the next day and you said with a smile, "I am so happy to have Papa.".
*You always chose to hold Papa's hand over mine when he was visiting.
*The night before your birthday, I told you I was sad that you were getting older and turning 4 and you said, "It's ok, we can still snuggle."
*On your birthday morning, after your breakfast in bed (chocolate muffin and OJ) and seeing your streamers and presents, you said "Thank you for my birthday." and "Thank you for my presents!".
*I told you that YOU were the greatest gift I could ever get. You hugged me and said, "You know, you are the greatest gift ever too."
*I read you the book "Are You My Mother?" and at the end after the bird says, You are not a kitten, you are not a dog, etc and then says, "You are my mother!", you wrapped your arm around my face and said "You are my mother." Made me cry.
*You love to talk about farts and you give all the family members names related to farts (farty person, stinky man).
*You love your preschool friends and you love your preschool playground.
*Last semester you helped Dani up from the ground and she gave you a kiss on the lips.
*At the neighborhood playground a little 2 year old girl fell down and you helped her up. She proceeded to fall over and over so you would help her. You then led her all around the playground by her hand and you showed her the flowers and bikes and helped her go down the stairs.
*You still nurse in the morning when you wake up and when you go to bed.
*You love to dress up as an alien, bunny, cowboy or a combo of all.
*You love God and you love reading your Bible stories at bed.
*You love going to church and usually you can tell me what you learned.
*Every day after preschool you climb the wall next to the stairs, and even once you left the school and climbed all the way to the top by yourself.
*Yesterday at the park you tried to go home with another family.
*You are quite dramatic...you said "Yes!" when you get your way and are gasping all the time in wonderment.
*You are brave and social and also shy at times.
*You are loving and always give your teachers hugs goodbye.
*You sleep with Momo and Battie or Marshall.
*You are still in speech therapy and are continuing to have a hard time with Ls and letter blends (ground, slippers, etc.).
*Your teachers say you are kind, proactively share with your friends and that you don't often answer questions in the circle time even though you know the answers.
*You are fully potty trained although you don't like to stop to poop...you pooped at the playground the other day and Audrey was so upset she had to leave.
*I have neglected to teach you to count. Sorry! I'll try harder.
*You love to wear your cowboy boots.
*You kiss me randomly which means more than you know.
*I still make daddy wash your hair with Mustela shampoo because it reminds me of all my babies.
*You love love love sugar...again this is my fault.
*Your hair is darkening, which I am sad about. I really wanted it to stay light blonde.
*You like to hide things from your siblings.
*You love to bake (and taste).
*You like to say "That's so inpopiate (inappropriate)."
*You are an excellent fake crier.
*You prayed the other night at our meal with Papa even though no one could hear what you said. We were all proud of you.
*You LOVE Legos! You received your first set (Fireman) for your birthday. You love to build new minifigures and could do it for hours.

Dear Lord, I praise you for sweet Sam. He is such a gift to our family. He brings great joy and laughter to the house and has taught Jack and Audrey how to care for little ones. He is a constant reminder of how you bless us with miracles after tragedy and I thank you for choosing to give us this little boy. I pray that he would come to know his Savior at a young age. Lord draw him to yourself and like the other children, I pray he would deeply long to be with you in Heaven forever. I pray that once he accepts you as his Lord that he would never once stray from you and would remain in you always. I pray that he would never doubt you and that he would feel compelled to tell everyone about you. I pray that he would grasp how much you love him as much as a human can. I pray that he would be a might warrior on your behalf and that he would draw many to your Son. I pray that you would protect him physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Lord command your angels to guard him and give us, as his parents wisdom in how to parent him according to your will. I pray that suffering in his life would bring him into a closer relationship with you. I pray these same blessings over his wife, that they would remain pure and protected. Lord, again I praise you for allowing me to be this boy's mom. What a privilege to be entrusted with this sweet soul. Thank you for teaching me to trust you through motherhood and for being the perfect parent when I am not. Lord forgive me when I wound my children and convict me of my own sin. Lord continue to grow my relationship with Sam and keep us forever in a right and forgiving relationship. I pray that you would also work to keep Jack, Audrey and Sam together as siblings forgiving one another and seeking reconciliation. Lord bind them together in love. I love you Lord and I trust you with Sam.
Amen.
